This early-90s home required complete overhauls of their bathrooms. We worked alongside the client, with HDW performing any trickier building aspects and the client doing all the simpler tasks as well as the painting, to keep the costs down. The client wanted to be involved in the remodel and we welcomed it.
Each bathroom was renovated at different times to allow for use of the other bathroom. The first was an en-suite that required moving a wall to double the size of the room, and the gutting and replacement of every single part, from walls and ceilings to the flooring. The second required installation of a new bath tub as well as new walls and a ceiling.
Both projects involved some use of natural timbers and iron work, bringing a more “earthy” or “industrial” feel to the end result.
“Hayden of HDW Builders recently performed a bathroom remodel for our house in Wanaka. From the first meeting onwards Hayden was superb to deal with; engaging, professional and easy going.
He listened 100% to our needs and gave suggestions where they were required. All the work was performed on time and to a high standard. His communication about the job in hand was excellent. As we were doing a large chunk of the grunt work ourselves, while Hayden provided the real skill-set, communication was the key. We outlined the whole project from the start, discussing what we were able to do ourselves, and what we would require him for.
Whenever Hayden finished a day of work, he pointed us in the right direction for what to do next before he came back for the next phase. Not only did this allow us to be involved in the project (without really possessing any building skills) but it saved us a decent sum of money. We would highly recommend Hayden for any home building job and if we get around to building a house from scratch one day, Hayden will be at the top of our list.”
